Help!

Posted on Mon Apr 15th, 2019 @ 1:19am by Commander Gary Taylor

Mission: Episode 1: Hell is a four letter word
Location: Gary'a Quarters
Timeline: Current, after initial meeting with Commodore

After the initial meeting with Commodore Mountbatten and her two aides, Gary had gone to his quarters to prepare for the dinner Phoenix was giving in their honor. He sighed as he walked into the bedroom. His relationship with Lia was seriously strained maybe to the breaking point after her coming forth and telling him she was 1.Pregnant and 2. Their daughter had died and was now in a small casket flying through the vast emptiness of space. He sat on the bed as tears trickled down his face. He had been too far away to attend Catlin's funeral and now Lia had robbed him of saying goodbye to a daughter he didn't even know. He felt wounded betrayed and all by the woman he loved. He didn't and was at a loss to explain either her actions or her thinking. How could Lia even think he didn't care about her? It was absurd and it only added to his pain.

He laid back, his head resting on a pillow and looked at the ceiling, "They say you only hurt the ones you love and I guess that's true as Lia sure has hurt me." He closed his eyes for a minute then reopened them. "I wish you were here Catlin. You were always there to listen and give your words of wisdom and I could sure use them now. I need someone to talk to, figure out what is going on. I feel like I'm losing control, my life is slipping away from me. I can't talk to Liselle, she has problems of her own with her sister being on board and the Trill Symbiosis Commission. Nor can I talk with the Captain she's dealing with that pain in ass Commodore Mountbatten and her two sneaky, lowlife aides Frick and Frack." He added sarcastically. After lying on the bed for a few more minutes he got up and headed for the shower. He needed to change into his dress whites and be there to greet the Commodore and her team.

"Computer, play Help by the Beatles." An instant later the upbeat song was playing in his quarters.

Help, I need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know I need someone, help. When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me, get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways
My independence seems to vanish in the haze
But every now and then I feel so insecure
I know that I just need you like I've never done before. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me, get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me. When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me, get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh

Maybe just maybe the shower and the song would help clear his mind and give him some relief from what he felt was his life slipping away or at worse he could just join a monastery.
