A Little Bit of Survivors Guilt

Mission: Season 2: Episode 3: Determination is not always a good thing
Location: Danica Kovitz's Quarters
Timeline: Just before arriving at the planet

Danica pushed the button, opening the door to her brand new quarters. The lights turned on, revealing a gorgeous spacious room. She entered setting her tiny duffle bag down on the couch, flopping down beside it. The Elysium was continuously surprising her with how lavishly it took care of the crews needs. The extravagance made her mind jump back to her friends, aboard their little modified Nova Class USS Grissom. The comparison of her conditions and theirs didn't make her feel great. This wasn't the first time and it wouldn't be the last.

The past few weeks had been exciting. She had new friends, new quarters, new girlfriend? She knew she was supposed to move on, but she sometimes felt it was too quickly.

No. That kind of thinking could get toxic. She needed to let herself live.

Standing, she walked over to the replicator. "One pin frame, large. Silver frame," Danica said. A frame materialized on the platform. Scooping it up, she retrieved the damaged combadge and placed it in the frame's center with a loving pat. She'd make a label for it later. Hand crafted maybe.

For now, she placed it on the wall, the light glinting off the metal. A second replicator trip later and she'd retrieved a model of the Grissom to place on the wall shelf below the frame. It was a humble tribute, but something more would verge on obsessive. This display would be a bit healthier of a choice.

Settling down on the couch again, she enjoyed the view of her quarters. She could get used to this.

She spent the next few minutes replicating outfits. A few uniforms first. Then some casual wear. Jeans, teeshirts, tank tops, yoga pants, sweatshirts. A formal dress, a much shorter, more scandalous dress. A cute selection of skirts. She knew it was silly to have them all replicated already, but there was something satisfying about selecting from a closet instead. She hoped Anya wouldn't think it looked too cluttered when she came over.

She checked the time. They'd be arriving at the planet any time now now. She'd be able to deal with this later. Putting her uniform jacket back on, she headed out the door on her way back to her post.
